James Blake returns to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for the second consecutive time in November. This time, Blake has rendered his version of Roberta Flack’s 1969 hit “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” written by Ewan MacColl, for the late night stage.

Taking his place at the seat of the show’s outdoor grand piano, the British aficionado strips back the song fully for a beyond captivating performance. Known for his ability to enrapture listeners with skillfully honed vocal chops and a perfect vibrato, Blake delivers an affecting display, infusing his soul straight into the microphone. While typical Tonight Show audience members may be used to seeing productions of grandeur, Blake’s last two appearances have been a welcome extraction from the norm.

Earlier this year, Blake delivered his soulful interpretation of Frank Ocean‘s “Godspeed” much to the excitement of fans. In turn, the amorous producer announced he will be releasing Covers, an album solely comprised of covered tracks, coming December 11.
