Ask Saint Punk what his debut album Ouroboros represents to him, and he’ll tell you “new life.”

“Some time has passed since I’ve written these songs and the ouroboros also has come to represent new life for me. That’s how I choose to see it now. A never-ending force of momentum, pushing and pulling, grinding against the grain, to be born into something worthy of the effort,” he mused.

The heat from the friction of this push and pull, the grind, spills forth across the 14-track project. Cumulatively, the LP arises as an ardent embrace of the rock-fluent brand of “grunge house” that the Los Angeles-born act has created and continued to shape since he stepped out into the electronic scene in 2018. Ouroboros bleeds with presence, sourcing cameos from Matt McAndrew, Holy Wars, Illicit Ghost, Young Tory, and MXMS that accent the boldly laced record, released via Armada Music.

Ouroboros, Saint Punk says, encapsulates “everything” he “experienced and felt in 2020, from anger to sadness to euphoria, depression, and more.” “It’s basically a journal put to music,” he adds, and fortunately for the listeners who’ve awaited a Saint Punk self-expression in extended form, its pages can be turned figuratively below.
