TSHA has taken no prisoners this year in the lead up to her highly anticipated debut studio album Capricorn Sun. She’s linked with Diplo on one of this year’s biggest tracks “Let You Go,” bagged her own headlining North American tour, and landed on a Fabric Presents compilation as of late. Adding to her long list of victories this year, the rising UK force delivers her second pre-album single, “Water” via Ninja Tune.

The new release further colors Capricorn Sun’s tracklist shortly after lead single “Giving Up,” channeling a free-flowing atmosphere and features vocals from Malian activist and artist Oumou Sangare. Steeped in Afro-house inspiration, “Water” is a synth-forward, emotive excursion that sums up TSHA’s entrancing sonic style. Speaking to Zane Lowe on the track, TSHA stated,

“At the time, we were unable to clear Oumou’s vocals, which was gutted. And I thought I would never get to release this song. And that’s what led me down the path of making my other song, ‘Demba.’ But then finally, I was able to clear [Oumou’s] vocals. So I’m so excited that it’s a single and it’s going to be on the album.”

‘Satisfaction’ turns 20 with modern rework from David Guetta, Benny Benassi

‘Satisfaction’ turns 20 with modern rework from David Guetta, Benny BenassiDavid Guetta Benny Benassi Composite Dancing Astronaut

It could be said that David Guetta and Benny Benassi joining forces to rework “Satisfaction” puts the iconic track back at the forefront of the scene, but the honest truth is that it never really left.

Originally released in 2002, Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction” is the rare club track that has stood the test of time. On one hand, “Satisfaction” has earned its spot on any and every clubbing compilation from the early ’00s on, but what gives the genre-defining electro tune its unique and respected patina is how it has transcended the club, being adopted by niche cultures worldwide.

The new release, out now via Spinnin’ Records, takes the stance of not fixing what isn’t broken. Guetta and Benassi pay true homage to the veteran Italian selector’s electro original, reinvigorating it for the modern club with reimagined drops and Guetta’s signature Future Rave flair. Discussing the new joint release, Benny Benassi shared,

“I’ve known David for over 20 years. I remember I would get messages from resident DJs in Ibiza who heard David playing Satisfaction at Pacha two decades ago! So he was definitely one of the very first supporters of the original version. And when he played me his initial idea for this new version, I totally loved it. He’s made it current again, it’s very Ibiza with a really great intro and it’s perfect for today’s DJ sets.”

A classic reborn from two of dance music’s finest, “Satisfaction” by David Guetta and Benny Benassi is out now. Celebrate 20 years of “Satisfaction” by streaming the new single below.

Br3nya shares new single, ‘Kumasi’: Listen

London-based British-Ghanian artist Br3nya has shared a new single, ‘Kumasi’. Check it out below.

The track marks the critically acclaimed UK rapper’s return to the release schedule after taking a year off to fine-tune her work. In that time, she visited Ghana for the first time in a decade to collaborate with local producers and artists.

Selected by BBC Radio 1Xtra’s DJ Target as a ‘Target Embargo’ tune (his regular slot for first plays of major new releases), the track bears an exceptional flow and wordplay backed by production from MADEINPARRIS. The song’s title and theme pays homage to one of Br3nya’s favourite Ghanian cities.

Speaking about the release, Br3nya said: “Kumasi represents a metaphorical journey of my recent life experiences and the journey of rediscovering myself, my confidence, my truth and most importantly my heritage. It celebrates the fun essence and vibrancy of Ghana shedding light on underrepresented parts of the country which are just as full of life. It shows the duality of my identity being born and raised in west London but never losing sight of my true inner ‘Innit innit girl’.”

“Kumasi being the pit stop between Accra and my hometown holds a very special spot in every trip I take back home,” she continued. “I can’t skip it and all it’s beauty-sometimes I pass through there to visit and build memories with family and more recently to celebrate the life of loved ones who have passed over, but each time is special.”

Ultra Naté releases new album, ‘ULTRA’: Listen

Ultra Naté has released her new album, ‘ULTRA’. Listen below.

The release marks the iconic US singer, songwriter, promoter, record producer and DJ’s tenth studio LP, and follows her collaborative album with Quentin Harris under the Black Stereo Faith moniker from 2017. The last Ultra Naté record-proper was 2013’s ‘Hero Worship’.

Speaking about the album, the legendary ‘Free’ singer said: “This ULTRA album, unlike any other, was the most cathartic and anchoring experience! Pandemic isolation and grief over the loss of many friends, unravelled the protective walls I had built around myself. Stripped bare emotionally, confused, and weary of the world, I needed to remind myself every day, who I was at my core. Writing, recording and shaping this collection of songs, physically alone, but with a team of people also committed to bringing this 10th album to life, was the gift.”
A host of respected talents appear on the credits for the album, including Quentin Harris, Dino P And Russel Small of The Freemasons (‘Happy Feeling’), Italo-house maestros Gianni Romano & Emanuele Esposito and John ‘J-C’ Car (‘Miracle‘). Funk Cartel and the Point Blank Music School (‘Supernatural’), Henrik Schwarz (‘Rich M’FKs’), Osunlade and Greenskeepers’ James Curd, and Grammy Award winner Tracy Young (‘Survivor’) are among the other artists involved.

“Since everyone was on hold everywhere, it was cool to be able to easily connect with some people I’ve always wanted to work with but hadn’t had the opportunity just yet,” Ultra Naté added. “People that I have admired and been a fan of their work for many years. Running around the globe, in all kinds of party environments, you naturally run into peers you follow and whose music you appreciate. That was pretty much what happened on ULTRA.”

‘ULTRA’, which is available now, coincides with Ultra Naté’s 30th year in the music industry, and the 25th anniversary of her landmark hit, ‘Free (Live Your Life)’, which landed in 1997 and immediately became a global smash, achieving anthem status in US, UK and Ibizan clubs, particulary among the queer community. The Streets release new EP, ‘Brexit At Tiffany’s’, shares video for title track: Watch

The Streets have released a new EP, ‘Brexit At Tiffany’s’, and unveiled a new video to accompany the title single. Check it out below.

The release features three new songs from the mind of Mike Skinner. The title track is an understated anti-ballad, with Skinner’s spoken word monologue set to soulful vocals from Jazz Morley. Its video was produced and directed by Skinner.

“’Brexit at Tiffany’s’ is a song about how the end of a relationship can be as messy as leaving Europe! ‘We don’t belong to each other: he’s an independent, and so am I’. Add into that a lot of blue and green and the whole thing feels like nostalgia before it’s happened,” Skinner said of the new offering.

The full EP, which has arrived via seminal UK label Island Records, also includes ‘3 Minutes To Midnight’, a low-end rumbling effort featuring Manga Saint Hilare, and closing number ‘Test of Time’. Listen to the full EP below.

Earlier this year, The Streets’ debut album, ‘Original Pirate Material‘, received a special edition re-release to mark the record’s 20th anniversary. Meanwhile, in January fans were treated to ‘Wrong Answers Only‘ featuring Master Peace, Skinner’s first new material since last year’s LP, ‘The Streets‘, which was released under his side project alias, The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light.

DJ Premier releases music video for ‘Remy Rap feat. Remy Ma & Rapsody’: Watch

DJ Premier has release a music video for ‘Remy Rap feat. Remy Ma & Rapsody’. Watch it below.

The visual is the first to accompany ‘DJ Premier: Hip Hop 50 Volume 1’, the inaugural release from a series that will span ten EPs of new music. In this case, the tune showcases the vocal talents of Bronx MC Remy Ma and Grammy-nominated North Carolina artist, Rapsody.

Made by Atlanta, Georgia director and producer Maya Table, the clip pays homage to 1990s hip-hop culture, with bucket hats, Cuban link chains, and a deft showcase of cutting and scratching courtesy of turntable legend Premier.

The full EP includes tracks with Lil Wayne, Nas, Joey Bada$$, Slick Rick, and Run the Jewels. Forthcoming instalments in the ‘Hip Hop 50’ series will be curated by Swizz Beatz, No I.D., Take A Daytrip, Will Made Me Do It, Hit-Boy, The Dream, and Tainy. Mass Appeal, the entertainment company responsible, launched the project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop’s birth next year.

In 2019, DJ Premier re-activated the seminal Gang Starr project, originally a duo featuring himself and the late rapper Guru, who died in 2010, presenting the act’s first new music in more than 16 years

David Guetta remixes Benny Benassi’s ‘Satisfaction’ for 20th anniversary: Listen

David Guetta has remixed Benny Benassi’s anthem, ‘Satisfaction’, to mark the track’s 20th anniversary. Check it out below.

Originally released in 2002, Benassi’s debut single was a global dance hit, reaching number two in the UK charts and achieving gold certification in Australia, Belgium, the US, and France — with success in the latter country placing the tune in the top 60 best-selling singles of the 21st Century so far.

Celebrating two decades since it first helped bring electro house into the mainstream, Guetta offers up an interpretation that has shades of his “future rave” style, combining the iconic synthesised vocals and lunging bassline with atmospheric breakdowns and builds.

The track was a prominent favourite at this year’s Tomorrowland festival in Belgium, and on 26th September Guetta and Benassi will perform the remix live during a headline set at the former’s F** ME I’M FAMOUS! party, which is held weekly at Ushuaïa Ibiza. Last month, Guetta played a b2b at the event with Armin van Buuren, the first time the pair have shared honours in a booth.

Lane 8, Elderbrook unlock awaited ‘Summer 2021 Mixtape’ ID, ‘Grapevine’

Lane 8, Elderbrook unlock awaited ‘Summer 2021 Mixtape’ ID, ‘Grapevine’296470148 418736533389705 8947128188009293378 N

While there’s still a pile of requested IDs sitting on the board from the previous handful of Lane 8‘s seasonal mixtapes, there was one in particular that had remained at the top of everyone’s wishlist. And that dates all the way back to June of 2021 to a production better known as ID6 from his “Summer 2021 Mixtape,” which had been the sole mixtape cut still yet to be formally identified out of its 61-part tracklist. Fast forward a little more than a year later and Lane 8 has now given it its green light while also confirming its creator to be none other than himself, teaming up with Elderbrook for the delivery of “Grapevine.”

“Grapevine” reopens Lane 8’s This Never Happened timeline for his first post-Reviver label appearance and he couldn’t have selected a more fitting track to do so. Similarly to his Anjunadeep 13 cut-turned-single with Rae Morris, “Grapevine” takes Lane 8’s approach outside of the sound he explored through Reviver, landing as a six plus-minute summer sendoff that pairs Elderbrook’s nostalgia-laced vocals with his unbridled, beaming fluency of melodic house. And the single comes with a deeper meaning to its lyrics, with Lane 8 explaining what “Grapevine” stands for, adding,

“Back when i was living in san francisco after college, i used to regularly take road trips down to LA to visit friends (and usually go to a lot of raves). i had a good job but i felt unfulfilled, and those trips came to provide meaning to my life as i started to figure out my purpose. part of the drive to LA is the infamous grapevine, which is where the chorus and title of this song come from. whatever was going on in my life at that moment, passing through the grapevine was a time to process the past, regrets and disappointment, but also a moment where excitement about the future would really start to kick in. It’s a bittersweet kind of feeling that i tried to channel into the production of this song as well. grapevine with @_elderbrook is out today, i hope you all enjoy it.”
