Free Audio Plugins For Mac & Windows From Noise Engineering

Free Audio Plugins For Mac & Windows From Noise Engineering
[embedded content]

Noise Engineering has released three free audio plugins for macOS & Windows: the synths Sinc Vereor and Virt Vereor, a distortion effect, Ruina.

The company says that they’ve had lots of requests for plugins from existing customers, and they also want to make their products accessible to people without the barrier to entry of a modular system.

In addition to the free modules, they’re planning plugin versions of some of their popular Eurorack modules.

Here’s what they have to say about each of the free plugins:

“Sinc Vereor packs a powerful punch into a tiny package. The intuitive and inviting controls will make sound design a breeze. Blend between familiar waveforms like saw, triangle, and square. Super mode adds 6 phase-offset oscillators. Use Noise mode to generate self-similar noise for percussion, effects, and more. The Vereor section is our easily manipulated dynamics section using an ADSR envelope controlling a variable slope and analog-inspired multimode gate/filter.

Add to that a vintage-inspired chorus and a library of presets. Loosely based on Noise Engineering’s beloved Eurorack module Sinc Iter, Sinc Vereor will astound with its versatility.

Virt Vereor is a powerful synthesizer that is as easy to use as it is unique and fun to play. Choose between a quadrature algorithm, a supersaw-inspired beast, or an additive algorithm with spectral control and distortion of partials. The Virt section is combined with the Vereor envelope/multi-mode gate/filter section and chorus. Virt Vereor makes a tremendous number of unique sounds with an immediate and usable interface.

Ruina is a creative stereo distortion plugin built on digital distortion algorithms. Run any sound through Ruina for warm, lush distortion, or crank the sliders to unleash complete destruction. Ruina has a wavefolder, a multiband saturator, a chaotic suboctave generator, octavizer, and phase shifter. It also features a notch or bandpass filter with adjustable tracking, and a control to set the order of the distortions in the signal flow to further customize your sound. Last but not least, Overdrive adds up to 128x gain for maximal destruction. With seven distortion types and fully automatable controls, it’s easy to turn your sounds into something new and unique with Ruina.”

Loopy Pro Promises To Take iPad Music Making To A New Level (Sneak Preview)

Loopy Pro Promises To Take iPad Music Making To A New Level (Sneak Preview)
[embedded content]

Developer Michael Tyson of A Tasty Pixel shared this sneak preview of Loopy Pro, an upcoming über-looper that promises to take iPad music making a new level.

That may sound like hyperbole, but Tyson is the developer of Audiobus, arguably the most important iPad music app ever released. Audiobus brought live, app-to-app audio streaming to iOS, letting users create custom, professional music making rigs entirely on their iPad.

Loopy Pro has been in development for 7 years. Originally named Loopy Masterpiece, it was conceived as an app that would ‘change the platform’ of iPad music making.

iPads have come a long way since Loopy Masterpiece was announced, and Loopy Pro looks like it will exploit the desktop-level processing power of modern iPads in an iPad-native way.

Loopy Pro promises to go far beyond traditional loopers, combining elements of looping, sequencing, iPad MIDI controllers and DAWs. In the sneak preview, Tyson demonstrates how Loopy Pro lets you create custom looping panels of any complexity, add custom controls, add effects, arrange and mix tracks, and build a custom live-looping configuration to meet your needs.

It also offers grid-based clip launching and an arrangement view that take inspiration from the classic Ableton Live workfow.

Official details on Loopy Pro are still to be announced. In the meantime, check out the sneak preview and share your thoughts on Loopy Pro in the comments!

Antares Audio Technology, creators of Auto-Tune, has introduced Auto-Tune Slice, a hybrid instrument that’s both a precision sampler and flexible synthesizer.

The company describes Auto-Tune Slice as “the world’s most advanced vocal sampler.” Auto-Tune Slice is optimized for vocals, but can also be used for beats, instruments, and other audio.

Auto-Tune Slice turns samples into slices that automatically map to your MIDI controller. The application turns any sample into a playable instrument, enabling you to rearrange slices, create new phrases and patterns, and manipulate sounds with 14 onboard effects.

Auto-Tune Slice also “has Auto-Tune baked into its DNA”. Direct Auto-Tune integration lets you tune your samples without ever leaving the Auto-Tune Slice environment. According to the developers, this – along with advanced transient detection – means that it can slice up vocals more accurately than traditional samplers.

Here’s the official tutorial video:

Cherry Audio Intros ‘Hot-Rodded’ Space Echo Emulation Stardust 201

Cherry Audio Intros ‘Hot-Rodded’ Space Echo Emulation Stardust 201
[embedded content]

Cherry Audio has introduced Stardust 201 Tape Echo, an unofficial “hot-rodded” software emulation of the classic Roland Space Echo tape echo effects of the 70s and 80s.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

“Stardust precisely recreates the limited fidelity and stability of audio tape, providing a natural rolloff of bass and treble frequencies for super-warm tonality and minor speed variances, lending an organic chorusing quality to repeats. Cranking the intensity knob overloads the circuit, generating the signature other-worldly runaway echoes and feedback that only a tape echo can produce.

Cherry Audio’s Stardust 201 Tape Echo includes features from the original RE-201 and RE-301 Space Echo units, and we’ve added some of our own to create a great-sounding, super-flexible, ideal tape echo effect that never breaks down and never needs demagnetizing, all for less than the price of a Space Echo replacement audio tape loop!”

  • “Authentically modeled” vintage tape echo, including seven virtual tape head modes
  • 4x-extended “wide mode” delay time range
  • LFO echo time mod section
  • Sync to DAW master tempo
  • “Motor kill” switch
  • True-stereo modeled BBD chorus circuit
  • Modeled input overdrive for crunchy tones
  • Dual independent tape loops for super-wide stereo imaging
  • Stereo spring reverb
  • Selectable mono/stereo modes
  • Bass and treble EQ controls
  • User-selectable color themes

Pricing and Availability

Stardust 201 is available for Mac & Windows, with an intro price of $19 USD (normally $29).

Sinevibes Rerun v2 For Mac Creates Chaotric Rhythms, Glitch Effects & More

Sinevibes Rerun v2 For Mac Creates Chaotric Rhythms, Glitch Effects & More
[embedded content]

Sinevibes has released Rerun v2, a major update to its self-randomizing repeater effect plugin for Mac.

Rerun constantly samples small slices of incoming audio, plays them back a number of times, and then starts over again. Each time it does this, Rerun randomizes the slice size and the number of repeats, and is then engages or pauses depending on the probability parameter.

The effect includes multiple playback modes – forward, reverse, alternating – as well as adjustment of slice envelope time and stereo link. Rerun can be configured to produce a very wide range of experimental, always-changing sounds: chaotic rhythms, erratic glitches, randomized reversing, or time-stretched textures.

  • Self-randomizing sampler-repeater with up to 600 ms slice size and up to 50x repetitions
  • Variable repeater engagement probability, with summed or gated mode
  • Forward, reverse, alternating playback modes
  • Adjustable slice envelope
  • Separate or stereo-linked operation
  • Lag filters on all continuous parameters for smooth, click-free adjustment
  • Supports mono › mono, mono › stereo, and stereo › stereo channel configurations

Audio Damage Intros Other Desert Cities Delay For iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows
[embedded content]

Audio Damage has introduced Other Desert Cities, a new delay effect for iOS, Linux, macOS & Windows, named after a famous sign on the I-10 highway leaving Los Angeles.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

“As its namesake implies, there are many strange and wonderful things lurking inside.

With six algorithms, each with its own unique personality, and extensive modulation capabilities, Other Desert Cities can fill multiple niches, from basic stereo dual delays to never-before-heard granular pitch-shifting chaos.”

  • Desert Shores Stereo Delay. This is a standard dual delay, with basic EQ, saturation, crossfeed, and spread.
  • Mecca Reverse Delay. A normal dual delay, except the repeats play backwards.
  • Cactus Dual-Delta Delay. This is like a pair of tape delays in use, with individual speed controls and pitch quantizing.
  • Thermal Mullti-Tap Delay. A dual multi-tap, with spread, crossfeed, and basic EQ.
  • Mirage Multi-Head Delay. Imagine if you had a tape delay, but the head was like the rotating head in a VCR. Experimental, strange, and wonderful.
  • Sky Valley Granular Delay. A pitch-shifting granular delay, with control over grain size and scatter, and with EQ.

Pricing and Availability

Other Desert Cities is available now with an intro price of $59 (normally $79).

waveTracing Intros SP950 Effect Plugin Delivers ‘Gritty Sound, With Mandatory Aliasing Effects’

waveTracing Intros SP950 Effect Plugin Delivers ‘Gritty Sound, With Mandatory Aliasing Effects’
[embedded content]

waveTracing has released an updated version of SP950, described as an accurate emulation of the SP’s 12-bit 26.04kHz ADC, DAC and detune that delivers ‘gritty sound with mandatory aliasing artifacts.’

Here’s what they have to say about it:

“If you are familiar with the E-mu SP-1200 workflow, you know the way the device is typically used is with a pitched-up source such as a turntable playing a LP record at 45RPM or 78RPM, and a detune after sampling in the SP-1200* to get back to the original pitch and duration. This was initially done to save sampling time, but the resulting artifacts soon became the signature of the device, and of whole musical trend.

This is exactly what the SP950 effect plugin intends to reproduce in a single slider: the RPM/detune slider combines the pitch of the source (markings on the left side, in RPM relative to 33 and in factors) with the detune of the SP (semitons value on the LCD) to compensate each other. The result is a constant duration and pitch output, with varying detune aliasing and bandwidth artifacts.”

  • Faithful SP sound
  • Akai* S950 filter emulation
  • Combined RPM/detune slider
  • Actual pitch remains unchanged
  • Multiple LCD color schemes
  • HiDPI / Retina compatible
  • No hassle registration (serial)
  • Free updates
  • VST3 / AU

Pricing and Availability:

SP950 is available now for 20€.
